A hotel with a rich history dating back to 1894. It was re-opened in May 2009 after complete reconstruction. The hotel is located in the immediate proximity of the most beautiful of all of Slovakia’s glacial lakes – Štrbské pleso (Štrba Tarn) situated at an elevation of 1,351 metres above sea level. The combination of the lake and the altitude creates unique conditions for the treatment of upper respiratory tract diseases, an effect known as “the climatic spa”. Not only thanks to its location, but also owing to the combination of 98 luxurious rooms including 22 suites, conference spaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and one of the finest ZION SPA LUXURY facilities in Europe with a total area of 1,300 m2, the hotel can be used all year round, thus eliminating low seasons. These facts alow the hotel to be ranked among the worlds’ most exclusive resorts that belong to the Kempinski network and promote it to the position of the unequivocal leader in Slovakia’s market for luxury hotels. The overall cost of the hotel reconstruction was EUR 52 million. The European Union provided funds amounting to EUR 2.6 million.
